ROCKY #3 of 3
(Rocky Balboa)

Original bronze

Sculptor
A. Thomas Schomberg, 1982

IISOH Museum
State College, Pennsylvania

The original bronze statue of ROCKY was created by Colorado artist A. Thomas Schomberg
for American actor Sylvester Stallone. Stallone commissioned the statue for his film Rocky III
and it originally stood in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art at the top of the steps.
The statue was later moved to the sports complex in South Philadelphia and stood in front of the First Union Spectrum.
In 2006 Stallone made his sixth ROCKY movie and the statue was moved again to a permanent location in front of the
Philadelphia Museum of Art where it can be seen today. The statue in Philadelphia is known as ROCKY #1.
See that statue in an image provided to us courtesy of Schomberg Studios....ROCKY #1.

Read a detailed history of the statue on our website at this link: The Story Behind the ROCKY Statue

The Artist, A. Thomas Schomberg, cast a limited edition of three of these statues.
The IISOH wants ROCKY #3 to stand in front of our Museum in Central Pennsylvania.

The IISOH will acquire this original bronze sculpture through the generosity of a single donor
or multiple donors. We are seeking multiple donors who will each donate $25.00 just once in their lifetime.
This is a $3.5 million fundraising campaign in order to acquire ROCKY and fund the General Endowment
which will support the mission of the IISOH with offices, staff, storage facilities and projects.

In grateful appreciation for their generous support the IISOH will publically acknowledge all donors
on our web site at this page: Donor Acknowledgements
In addition, every CHARTER MEMBER ($25.00 donation or more) will be permanently acknowledged when we construct
the Library and Museum by having their name memorialized in some format in the entry hall to the building.

A donation of over $2 million will earn the donor naming rights for the ROCKY endowment.

Return to the ENDOWMENTS PAGE for other STATUARY GARDEN endowment possibilities,
such as the DISCUS THROWER or SEATED BOXER and other ancient Greek athletic statuary.
